California's state scientist union rallied outside CalHR. Here's why
The California Association of Professional Scientists union members gathered outside the California Department of Human Resources to rally in support of wage increases and against Governor Gavin Newsom’s return-to-office mandate in Sacramento on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026. Chants of "What do we want? Our wages!" and "Gavin Newsom bait and switch! Scientists are not your bitch!" rang out around the block, and several union members spoke about the impacts of the RTO order and lack of wage increase.
